Drink Up: Increasing Your Water Consumption

waterStaying hydrated is one important aspect of having a healthy body. Nonetheless, drinking enough water for many has always been a struggle, especially if they’re too consumed by their unhealthy lifestyle.

Not enough water in your body has its downsides. Digestion will take longer. Nutrients won’t be distributed evenly, and you will find it hard to control your cravings. A few tricks can help you develop a habit of drinking at least 8 cups of water a day.

Always Carry Your Flask

Get yourself a flask that you can carry anywhere if you need a constant reminder. If you attach yourself to your glass of water, you will unconsciously develop an affinity for it. Eventually, you won’t need to remind yourself that you need to drink water; your body will do it for you.

Ditch the Soda

Water filter companies, such as Purity Water, suggest that you replace your fizzy drinks with water at meals. Meals are the right times to take in more water. If you just can’t resist wanting some taste on your water, go for natural fruit juices, or better yet, create a flavoured water concoction.

Give it a Flavour

If you find your drinking water a bit boring, why not give a spin on it? Make yourself some flavoured water. Simply mix your water with citrus slices, such as limes, lemons and oranges. Go for seasonal fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries if they’re available. If you’re looking for a more tangy taste, incorporate some herbs and spices, such as cilantro and vanilla.

These are only some of the things you can do to encourage yourself to drink more water. Always see to it that the water you’re drinking is clean. Install a filter if you’re not sure with safety and quality of your water at home.
